Anthropic delays IPO launch to mid-October at earliest, Reuters reports By Investing.com

Investing.com -- Anthropic is now expected to begin marketing its initial public offering in mid-October at the earliest, Reuters reported exclusively on Friday, citing people familiar with the matter.

The artificial intelligence company could complete the listing just days before the U.S. midterm elections in November. Anthropic had previously been expected to make its IPO prospectus public as early as next week, a key step toward launching the offering.

Publication of the prospectus is now expected in late September, according to the report. The plans, including the timing of the offering, remain subject to change as the company works through preparations for the listing.

The revised schedule pushes back what some investors have said could be a $2 trillion listing, potentially making it one of the largest IPOs ever attempted. The offering would also provide a major test of public-market investor appetite for companies benefiting from rapid growth in artificial intelligence.

As part of its IPO preparations, Anthropic is seeking to finalize a $15 billion revolving credit facility. Analysts, including those at banks involved in the financing, are expected to meet with the company after the facility is completed.

Companies typically leave several weeks between analyst meetings and publishing an IPO prospectus. Anthropic could operate on a tighter timetable as analysts involved in the process are already familiar with the company.

Morgan Stanley (NYSE), Goldman Sachs (NYSE), JPMorgan Chase (NYSE) and Citigroup (NYSE) are among the banks working with Anthropic on the IPO.

The potential listing comes as investors seek greater public-market exposure to major AI companies. OpenAI is also among the firms considering a potential listing, following SpaceX's record $1.77 trillion public-market debut in June.

Anthropic declined to comment on its IPO plans.
