Anthropic Opens Managed Claude Platform Through Google Cloud
Anthropic's managed Claude platform is generally available through Google Cloud, with separate account setup, billing and data-processing conditions to check.
Anthropic made its managed Claude platform generally available through Google Cloud on October 22, 2026, allowing customers to access its artificial intelligence tools while paying through their existing cloud bill.
The launch adds a separate service alongside Google's existing managed offering. Both use Google Cloud credentials, but Anthropic runs the new service and sets its usage limits. Google operates the other offering within its Agent Platform, using the AnthropicVertex software client.
"Anthropic operates the service and acts as the data processor," the company said in its launch announcement. Google remains the data processor for the Google-managed service.
Okay News reports that spending on the new service counts towards existing Google Cloud commitments, according to Anthropic. Customers can use Claude Fable 5.1, Opus 5.5, Sonnet 5.5 and Haiku 5.5 through the offering.
Anthropic said new platform features would become available through this route when they reach its own platform. The announced tools include document uploads, web search and code execution. Claude Managed Agents, for running longer tasks without customers managing the infrastructure, remains a beta product.
Opus 5.5 fast mode is generally available through the new service. Its listed rates are US$8 per million input tokens and US$40 per million output tokens, the units used to measure text processed and generated. Those are fast-mode prices, not a uniform charge across the available models.
Anthropic's fast-mode documentation says caching and data-residency pricing adjustments can apply on top. Fast mode has separate capacity limits and cannot be used for batch processing.
For existing Claude customers, moving to the service requires a new Anthropic organisation rather than converting an existing account. Files and agent resources stay in the old organisation; workspaces and settings must be recreated. The two organisations can run alongside each other while customers move workloads gradually.
The company's technical documentation says Zero Data Retention is available on request, but an arrangement covering another Anthropic organisation does not transfer. Some supporting systems, including trust and safety services, process data outside Google Cloud.
Data location also requires a separate setting. Although the launch announcement describes United States and global endpoints, the technical instructions say to retain the global routing location and explicitly select United States-only inference, the processing that produces a model's response, when required.
Google's managed alternative offers global, United States or European Union multi-region, and regional endpoints. Its regional endpoints support Claude Sonnet 4.6 and older models only, according to Anthropic's documentation; newer models require global or multi-region access.
General availability does not remove every feature restriction. Betas limited to selected organisations still require access for the new organisation. The launch announcement does not specify Nigerian customer eligibility.
Customers with negotiated discounts must contact their Anthropic or Google Cloud account representative before starting. "Discounts cannot be applied retroactively to usage," Anthropic said.
