From Eyeballs To Annual Run Rates: Buzzy Pricing Metrics And The Anthropic Trade | Seeking Alpha

Both Anthropic and OpenAI have been active in raising equity as private companies, and the most recent rounds yield estimates of what these private investors thought they were worth, at least at the time the capital was raised.

I am a teacher first, who also happens to love untangling the puzzles of corporate finance and valuation, and writing about my experiences. Anthropic's reported $67B ARR and 45% sequential revenue growth underpin aggressive pre-IPO pricing, but the lack of standardized ARR calculation introduces skepticism about comparability and sustainability.

To justify such pricing, Anthropic must deliver sustained hypergrowth, expand operating margins to 30%+, achieve favorable unit economics, and mitigate regulatory, financial, and business model risks.

With few true peers, investors default to comparing Anthropic with OpenAI, SpaceX, and the Mag Seven, but these analogies are fraught with differences in scale, business model, and life cycle stage.
