As many are jetting off towards sunnier shores for an Easter break, hundreds if not thousands of travellers are being warned about the severe disruption at one major airport that's gripped by 'indefinite' industrial action.

This morning, countless tourists landing at Palma Airport ahead of the Easter bank holiday weekend have been met by chaos as handling staff go into their second day of industrial action.

As many as 12 flights were delayed by midday today, affecting eight scheduled to depart and four arriving into the Spanish hotspot, according to airport sources.

According to local news Majorca Daily Bulletin, unions CCOO, UGT and USO are said to have called for an indefinite strike by Groundforce ground staff at the start of this week, spanning three different time slots and 12 airports where the company operates, including Palma.

The strike periods are scheduled for 5am until 7am, 11am until 5pm, and 10pm until midnight each day.

Around 800,000 people are anticipated to pass through the airport over the Easter holidays, with tourists warned to expect delays as a result of the industrial action.
