Amazon is investing an additional $US5 billion ($7 billion) in the artificial intelligence giant Anthropic and may inject $US20 billion more over time, deepening the companies' ties in an increasingly competitive AI industry.
Anthropic, which makes the Claude chatbot and coding tool, plans to spend more than $US100 billion over the next 10 years on Amazon's cloud technologies and chips, the companies said in a statement on Monday (Tuesday AEST). Amazon shares gained about 3 per cent on the news in extended trading.
