(KPL) A sudden hailstorm struck Huay Xai District in Bokeo Province at around 4:00 PM on May 3, 2026, causing widespread damage to houses and a local temple.

The storm, which included heavy rain and strong winds, hit Bung Na Muan village, leaving significant destruction in its wake. Structures within the village temple compound, including the gate arch, were heavily damaged by the wind and hail.

Many houses in the village also suffered serious damage, with roofs torn off and corrugated metal sheets blown away. Large trees were uprooted and fell onto buildings, while debris and fallen trees blocked several roads, making travel difficult.

Local authorities conducted initial inspections and began compiling a list of affected households to report to higher authorities. Residents, along with monks and novices, worked together to clear debris, remove fallen trees, and carry out temporary repairs to damaged houses.
