The incident occurred on Sunday, March 29, aboard Frontier Airlines Flight 2539, which was traveling from John Glenn Columbus International Airport in Ohio to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
As the plane was taxiing to the gate, the unruly passenger, a man, made a verbal bomb threat, causing panic among passengers and prompting an immediate response from authorities. The aircraft was directed to a remote area of the airport as a precaution, according to ABC affiliate WSYX Channel 6 in Columbus.
"When I saw the cops, that's what made it the scariest day of my life because they pulled up, they had all guns, and honestly, my heart just dropped," a passenger told WSYX.
Law enforcement, including the FBI and the Atlanta Police Department, met the plane upon arrival. The man was taken into custody, and the threat was deemed non-credible. No injuries were reported, and passengers were safely deplaned.
The FBI and local police are continuing their investigation into the incident.
