According to reports from CNBC, Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent met with executives from leading US banks to assess the risks associated with the Mythos artificial intelligence model developed by Anthropic. This meeting, held on the sidelines of a financial forum in Washington, reflects mounting concerns regarding the ability of such systems to facilitate sophisticated cyberattacks.
Anthropic recently launched a limited version of its model, Claude Mythos Preview, specifically due to fears of potential malicious use. Authorities are seeking to anticipate the impact of these technologies on sensitive sectors such as finance, where AI is increasingly integrated into critical operations.
In response to these challenges, several major corporations, including JPMorgan, Apple, Google, Microsoft, and Nvidia, are participating in initiatives such as Project Glasswing to manage these risks. This mobilization underscores the need for strengthened dialogue between public authorities and private sector players to secure the deployment of increasingly powerful AI models.
