Anthropic launches Project Glasswing to spot cyber issues with AI

Anthropic has announced Project Glasswing, an initiative aimed at reducing cybersecurity risk in the AI era by using an unreleased frontier model -- Claude Mythos Preview -- to find vulnerabilities and improve defenses. The effort is positioned as a coalition-based approach: Anthropic pairs its preview model with a broad set of partner organizations that can run coordinated testing.

Anthropic's Mythos Preview is described as capable of discovering vulnerabilities at scale. In the reporting, the company says it has found thousands of high-severity issues, including some across major operating systems and web browsers. Anthropic has also said it would not release Mythos Preview publicly because doing so could raise misuse concerns.

Project Glasswing matters because it treats cybersecurity evaluation as an adversarial exercise rather than a purely internal QA step. Instead of waiting for attackers to discover weaknesses in widely deployed software, the program seeks to have partner organizations validate findings and harden systems while the testing can still be contained.

The reported partner ecosystem includes major industry names spanning cloud, security, and platform providers, including AWS, Apple, Google, Microsoft, Nvidia, and multiple cybersecurity and networking firms.

As AI tooling becomes more capable at code generation and vulnerability discovery, traditional defensive processes can lag behind. Glasswing is designed to narrow that gap by using frontier-model capability in a managed, partner-led testing framework.
