TipRanks Welcomes a New ETF - NYSE:RANK * TipRanks has entered a new arena in the investing world, powering the index of an ETF based on its unique data now trading under the ticker RANK on the NYSE. * RANK tracks the performance of the TipRanks US Momentum Analysts Index, a rules-based index of 50 large U.S. companies. COMPUTING POWER DEAL: Meta (META) is in early discussions to lease computing power from its AI data centers to Anthropic in an agreement that could be worth as much as $10B over two years, the New York Times' Eli Tan and Mike Isaac report, citing three people with knowledge of the talks. Anthropic, which proposed the deal in June, would pay Meta in monthly increments over the two-year term and the companies would be allowed to opt out of any agreement early, the report said. BUY APPLE: HSBC upgraded Apple (AAPL) to Buy from Hold with a price target of $366, up from $260. The firm believes Apple is now at an "operational turning point." Apple can stay away from the high capex debate as it only invests only 2.5% of its 2026 sales versus 39% for hyperscalers, and it also well positioned to leverage its 2.5B installed device base with its forthcoming revamped Apple Intelligence. The "AI boost comes at the right moment, when we think Apple has one of its most innovative product pipelines in place," the analyst tells investors in a research note. HSBC views Apple's hardware pipeline as strong, which includes the Phone 18 Pro and Pro Max this fall, an iPhone Air in April 2027, and "most importantly" a book-style foldable phone. AI FOR FINANCIAL SERVICES: FIS (FIS) said, "FIS is using Mythos 5 through Project Glasswing, Anthropic's controlled-access initiative that applies frontier AI to help strengthen the security of software supporting critical infrastructure, to secure its own systems. FIS operates systems that clear payments, move money and run core banking for thousands of institutions worldwide. Protecting that code is critical to the stability of global financial infrastructure. At that scale, FIS applies the same standard to its own infrastructure security that it expects from the technology it delivers to clients. Through Project Glasswing, FIS is putting Mythos 5, Anthropic's most advanced frontier model, to work as an additional layer within its security program. Project Glasswing brings together organizations that build or maintain foundational software. Participants use Anthropic's most advanced AI models for defensive security work. This reinforces FIS' commitment to proactive security and being a supportive partner to the broader security community and financial services sector. Project Glasswing brings together organizations that build or maintain foundational software. Participants use Anthropic's most advanced AI models for defensive security work. In addition to FIS' participation in Project Glasswing, its overall security posture is shaped by active engagement with FS-ISAC and the Financial Services Sector Coordinating Council, ongoing regulatory collaboration and industry intelligence-sharing. The initiative is separate from FIS' commercial deployment of Anthropic AI agents but reflects the same disciplined approach to applying advanced AI in financial systems where security, reliability and trust are essential." GROK 4.3: xAI's (SPCX) Grok 4.3 is now generally available on Amazon Bedrock (AMZN), giving teams that build agents and AI workflows a model that reasons over long inputs. "With this launch, xAI joins Amazon Bedrock as a model provider. Grok 4.3 is a model with configurable reasoning effort. It offers tool use and instruction following for building agents, and token efficiency for high-volume inference. It accepts text and image input, and has a 1M token context window for long documents and multi-turn sessions. The model runs on Mantle, the inference engine in Amazon Bedrock," AWS stated.

Microsoft (MSFT) Stock Gains on Swapping Out OpenAI and Anthropic for Its Own AI Models

Microsoft (MSFT) is starting to use more of its own AI inside key apps such as Excel and Outlook as it aims to cut costs and rely less on outside labs, Bloomberg reported. The company has begun routing several weekly prompts in those apps through its in‑house MAI models instead of OpenAI or Anthropic. Following the news, MSFT stock was up 1.3% on Tuesday. 4th of July Sale - 70% Off * Unlock powerful investing tools and data-driven insights with TipRanks Premium for more confident investment decisions. * Discover top stock picks and new investment opportunities through TipRanks' Smart Investor Newsletter. The shift is still small compared with Microsoft's overall AI use, but it shows the company is making progress on building cheaper, competitive models. At its Build conference in June, Microsoft rolled out seven new MAI models, including one it says can match the coding skills of Anthropic's popular Opus 4.6 model at a lower cost. MAI models are also being used inside GitHub Copilot, and Microsoft plans to bring its own transcription model to Teams and other apps in the coming months. Microsoft burns huge amounts of AI tokens to power tools like Copilot, and its long‑time deal with OpenAI currently gives it discounted access. But that deal will not last forever, and MSFT is working to make sure it is not stuck paying whatever top labs choose to charge down the road. Microsoft's Long‑Term AI Cost Strategy Microsoft is pushing hard to cut its long‑term AI costs as model sizes grow and computing needs explode. A major part of this plan is building its own custom chips like the Maia 200 to lower the cost of running AI models in production. By using these in-house chips for internal AI operations and Copilot products, Microsoft reduces its heavy financial reliance on Nvidia (NVDA). Further, it has put a limit on how much their own engineers can use internal AI tools to avoid wasted tokens and rising internal bills. Overall, the company's goal is to ensure end-to-end integration across the stack. Microsoft is using its Azure cloud to host models and run cloud computing services for other top labs. Is Microsoft a Buy or Sell? Currently, Wall Street has a Strong Buy consensus rating on Microsoft stock based on 36 Buys and one Hold. The average MSFT stock price target of $563.62 indicates an upside potential of 43.93%.

FCA Official Urges Crackdown on OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic AI Models

A senior U.K. Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) official, Sheldon Mills, said the country should consider regulating well-known artificial intelligence (AI) models such as OpenAI's ChatGPT, Anthropic's Claude, and Google's (GOOGL) Gemini. The proposal comes as regulators worldwide debate how to regulate advanced AI systems now being used in banking, investing, and other financial services. 4th of July Sale - 70% Off * Unlock powerful investing tools and data-driven insights with TipRanks Premium for more confident investment decisions. * Discover top stock picks and new investment opportunities through TipRanks' Smart Investor Newsletter. FCA Wants Review of AI Models Used for Financial Advice After concluding a personal review of popular AI models on July 6, Mills stated that Britain should consider setting new rules for these systems. The review found that more than one in four people in the U.K. trust ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini for financial advice, even though these AI tools are not bound by the same rules as regulated financial services. As a result, Mills said the FCA should use the next three to six months to decide whether existing rules should apply to these AI models as they become more widely used. FCA Chair Ashley Alder also said regulators must keep pace with the fast-changing AI landscape while continuing to protect consumers. Growing AI Adoption Raises System-Wide Risk Concerns The FCA's review also signaled how quickly AI is being adopted across the financial industry. According to a recent report, 81% of financial firms worldwide now use AI in some form, while 40% are already deploying it at a more advanced level. Although AI is still mainly used behind the scenes, more financial firms are employing it to handle user complaints and provide investment advice. Mills also warned that relying on a small number of AI firms, cloud providers, and tech platforms could create risks for financial systems. If many firms use the same tech, a single outage or failure could disrupt multiple businesses at once. Is Google a Good Stock to Buy and Hold? Wall Street analysts tracked by TipRanks have rated Google (GOOGL) a Strong Buy. Out of 33 analysts, 28 rated the stock a Buy, 5 a Hold, and 0 a Sell. GOOGL also currently trades around $364 and has a 12-month projected average price target of $428.12. (See GOOGL's Stock Forecast)
